Alon Futterman

 


Alon Futterman is leading some of the most innovating programs in Israel. His career spans the worlds of entrepreneurship, politics, public education, international partnerships, aviation and non- profits.

In February 2014 he was appointed to be the founding CEO and director of “TALMA”- the Israeli government’s initiative expanding public education into the month of July, shortening summer vacation for elementary schools.

Futterman hails from the southern city of Ashkelon. He served as MK Shelly Yechimovitch’s Bureau Chief during her first year in the Knesset, and then as the Senior Advisor to the Minister of Education, Oxford Professor Yuli Tamir. During his 5 year term in government, Futterman was appointed as the Secretary of the National Committee headed by Supreme Court Justice Dalia Dorner, to determine Israel’s policy on special education.

In 2008 Futterman directed together with General Eliezer Shkedy, then Israeli Air Force Commander a national educational program “Derech Eretz Ve Shamayim” for all 9th-12th graders in the country celebrating Israel's 60 years of achievement.

Futterman established the Ashkelon Public Education Forum, served as a senior associate at the International Relations Department of the JDC, and from 2011-2014 he served as the Director of Emissary Development at The Jewish Agency for Israel.

In 2011, at the request of ELAL CEO General Shkedy, Futterman founded the “El Al Ambassadors” program. This is a joint program that he continues to lead today together with the Foreign Ministry, the Stand With Us organization and the Jewish Agency.

Futterman teaches Educational Leadership in different frameworks locally and abroad. He served in the IDF Nachal combat infantry unit, he is a graduate and associate of the ISEF International Foundation for Education, and he has a Bachelor’s degree in Government and Strategy, as well as a Master’s degree in Government and Public policy- both from the IDC in Herzliya. Futterman is a board member of “IDF Helpers without Borders” allowing discharged IDF soldiers to volunteer in humanitarian programs while backpacking around the world and in October 2014 he was chosen to join the EU-Middle East Young Leaders Forum in Brussels.

Futterman is one of the 7 founders of the “Yesh Atid” party, and was known in Israeli media as “Yair Lapid’s General of the South”.
