Dear Chaverot,

With the beginning of the new year I want to wish you all a Happy New Year, with good health and prosperity.

When I look back at 2014, I see a year full of activities in all spheres, a year in which we contributed significantly towards society in Israel.

During the Protective Edge operation WIZO helped thousands of residents from the south, generously hosting them in youth villages throughout the country.
WIZO opened four new Day Care Centers.
WIZO introduced new programs in the youth villages, in order to strengthen the pupils so that they can cope with the crisis they have endured in their lives.
WIZO continued to save hundreds of women, and children, who have suffered from violence, and bring awareness to the issue of violence in the family and how to treat it. The voice of WIZO, and her message of tolerance, is heard throughout Europe, and the Olive Tree exhibition from WIZO Afulla has crossed borders, and is being displayed in many countries.
Through its numerous projects and programs WIZO continues to strengthen Israeli society.
I am pleased that wonderful women from around the world, and of course, in Israel are involved in a wide range of endeavors , and through their devotion and generosity, WIZO is creating a better reality for tens of thousands of Israelis each year.
As there are in WIZO, in Israel as a whole there are women who are changing reality, changing life.

I want to tell you about three women, leaders in their fields, young women who are groundbreakers, each one, in her own way, having an effect on Israeli society.

ronitProf. Ronit Satchi Fainaro, Cancer Research
Ronit has published over 40 prominent papers that have appeared throughout the world.
She leads cancer research , with a team of fifteen researchers, at Tel Aviv University. At the beginning of 2014, Ronit, and her team, was awarded a grant of several million shekels by the Society for the Research of Melanoma and the Saban Family Foundation. Her research is viewed as groundbreaking and various leading factors in the world forecast that if her treatment is found to be effective and safe, it will be a real innovation.

yael-andoran sYael Andorn, First Female Director General of Israel's Finance Ministry Yael has held the position since 2013, and has succeeded in passing a number of important resolutions for the eradication of poverty in Israel and to reduce the price of apartments. Amongst the measures in which she was involved in the Ministry of Finance during her term of office: Program to reduce the cost of living and an additional one billion shekels for Holocaust survivors.

Kira sDr. Kira Radinsky, Research in Computer Sciences
In 2002, when only 15, she began to learn at the Technion, and was part of the Program for Genius. She has three academic degrees from the Faculty of Computer Science in the Technion.
Radinsky is involved in the development of predictive data-mining software that can forecast natural events, which benefit humanitarian organizations around the world and heads her own start-up company. In August, 2013 she was chosen by the technological magazine MIT amongst the 35 most promising researchers in the world, under the age of 35.

I am excited to see these young women who are ahead of us and influencing our future. May we see many more such women who are a source of pride to all of us.

I wish you a happy new year, a year in which we continue our important work for the
benefit of children, women and youth in Israel.

With warm regards,
