Happy Passover

Dear Chaverot,

Passover pic

"Observe the month of Aviv, and keep the Passover unto the LORD thy G-d: for in the month of Aviv the LORD thy G-d brought thee forth out of Egypt by night." (Deuteronomy 16:1)

From the Golan Heights in the north to Eilat in the south, Israel is slowly awakening from the cold wintery season with the blossom of nature all around us. The fields of flowers are slowly taking on beautiful colors, the trees are growing new leaves and suddenly spring is here.

And with the lovely colors of the spring come the festivities of Passover.

Over three thousand years ago, our people started a journey of national revival – they left slavery behind, in the darkness of winter, and arrived 40 years later in the Land of Israel – to the flourishing land of milk and honey.

Since then our people was exiled, spread over many countries and continents. We have endured times of darkness and pain and faced many threats and sanctions. But the journey of our national revival gained momentum once again in the late 19th century, and in 1948, this Zionist dream became a reality when we finally returned to our ancient land.

It is here that our revival story unfolded – when we created a free, democratic nation. It is here that we became masters of our own destiny. It is here that we breathed life into the desert and raised generations of successful Israelis.

Since 1920, WIZO has been playing a major role in this journey of success and prosperity of the State of Israel.

We planted our roots, in Day Care Centers, schools and youth villages, and continued to blossom - bringing new life to the downtrodden, and new hope to those at risk.

We have been supporting and empowering teenage girls and women in our women's centers, shelters, and youth clubs – helping them discover their dreams and learn how to turn them into a reality.

We have been caring and strengthening our elderly in WIZO Parents' Home, where men and women who have built this wonderful nation receive the love and assistance they need to live happily and with dignity in their advanced years.

Every day of the year, WIZO continues this journey of revival and success to create a better and stronger Israeli society.

I wish you all, your families, your friends, and all our WIZO Chaverot, a joyful Passover.

May the joint power of hundreds of thousands of voices around Seder tables, usher in a period of peace and prosperity, unity and fulfilment, throughout WIZO and the Jewish world.

Chag Pesach Sameach!

 Pesaj 2017

Passover pic

¡Hag Pesach Sameaj!
