Dear Chaverot,

It is with deep sadness that I write this letter on the passing of Shimon Peres Z"L, former President, former Prime Minister, and Nobel Prize winner, who passed away early this morning after his condition deteriorated following a massive stroke two weeks ago.

Shimon Peres will forever be remembered as one of Israel's most prominent politicians and diplomats, a leader who played a major role in the nation's history from its very inception. He was a big proponent of the peace process and a man who devoted his life to the State of Israel and the people of Israel.

In the words of his son Hemi: “Dad used to say that the greatness of a person is measured according to the size of the vision he serves. He had no other interest but to serve the people of Israel, in which he believed and loved until his last breath."

Shimon Peres was an unwavering voice for peace. Even after leaving office in 2014, he continued his relentless work for peace in the Middle East.
"He was a genius with a big heart who used his gifts to imagine a future of reconciliation not conflict, economic and social empowerment not anger and frustration" said Former United States President Bill Clinton.

Without Shimon Peres' insight, devotion to the State of Israel, and steadfast ideals, Israel as we know it today would not be the same.

May he rest in peace,

Fallecimiento de Shimón Peres z¨l

1923- 2016

Queridas javerot,
