Purim 2017

May Purim – and all the days in the year - be full of light and hope and joy, just as it was for the Jewish people in the time of Esther and Mordechai, so many years ago.

Dear Friends,

Purim22As Esther the daughter of Mordechai, the Purim festivity has extra special significance for me.

THE MITZVOT OF PURIM:

  • Reading of the Megillah (book of Esther).
  • Matanot L'evyonim - Giving money gifts to at least two poor people.
  • Mishlo-ach Manot - Sending gifts of two kinds of food.
  • Eat, drink and be merry.
  • The custom of wearing fancy dress costumes on Purim is an allusion to the nature of the Purim miracle.

I wish you all a very joyous Purim. May Purim – and all the days in the year - be full of light and hope and joy, just as it was for the Jewish people in the time of Esther and Mordechai, so many years ago.

Warm wishes.
