Dear Friends,

Mazal Tov! WIZO is 99 years young today and celebrated its birthday at World WIZO Headquarters. Members of the Executives of World WIZO and WIZO Israel, mingled with division managers, school & youth village directors, graduates, volunteers and employees. We heard moving stories from graduates of WIZO's youth villages, the WIZO Israel young empowerment programme and an the ispiring story of a women who lived at one of WIZO's women's shelters and how she turned her life around as a result. To make this day even more special, Caroline Shklarek Zelman from WIZO Austria joined us, and the Tel-Aviv Hilton Hotel also sent WIZO an amazing birthday cake.

The employees also did us proud – some formed a WIZO choir and others appeared in a video clip – miming and dancing to the words of a famous song – "Tribe of Brothers and Sisters" that praises 70 years of living together in our beloved Israel (written by Doron Madali / Idan Reichal) – "Here is the house, here is the heart and we are not going anywhere, our ancestors are the roots, and we are the flowers - a tribe of brothers and sisters". The song has been adopted by many working places.

In my greetings, I spoke of our WIZO history and the pioneering work carried out by our founding mothers, the movement they created, the goals they set forth and how WIZO is perceived. "President Shimon Peres z"l said "it would be difficult to imagine Medinat Israel without WIZO". Former Education Minister Naftali Bennett said the difference between WIZO Youth Villages and other similar facilities is that WIZO has Neshama. WIZO graduates take that neshama with them wherever they go, and to the senior positions, they have held in the IDF, and the Government".

Stressing that WIZO IS STILL GOING STRONG, and we have a lot to be proud of, I also reminded us all, that WIZO IS STILL NEEDED BY THE SOCIETY IN ISRAEL. 99 years old and WIZO still has a lot to do. That is truly incredible.

To make this day even more special, the Tel-Aviv Hilton surprised me with a cake for my birthday tomorrow, delivered by Pinar a representative of the hotel.– it is paradise in a bite.

I wish every one, many more years of blessed WIZO activities in good health and happiness.
