To: Presidents and Chairpersons of all WIZO Federations.
Dear President and Chairperson,
"היום הרת העולם"
"Today the world is born.”
With the blasts of the shofar, we announce that today the world is born. And our natural optimism, for our loved ones, for the people of Israel, and for the wider world, bursts forth from deep within each one of us.
On Rosh Hashana when we receive the New Year, it is as if we are receiving a new gift. And as with every new gift we are excited.
WIZO was born 94 years ago. Yet each year is a new year, a new beginning - we begin all over again. And we begin by opening our gifts.
What are our WIZO gifts?
They are the children that we receive in our WIZO Day Care Centers. They come to the Day Care Centers, some happily, some with a tear in their eyes. We, in WIZO, have the huge honor to ignite their natural enthusiasm and to joyfully share with them the wonders of this world that they are now part of.
Our gifts are the students, who come to our WIZO schools and youth villages looking to us for direction. We will give it to them. Never forgetting that it is a great privilege to do so.
Our gifts are the girls, and the women, who come to us for enrichment, for empowerment, to take their equal place in the society in which they are over 50% of the population. WIZO pledges to nurture and improve their lives.
When the New Year approaches, a new door opens.
When the New Year brings opportunity – we must take it.
When the New Year brings duties – we will perform them.
When the New Year brings problems – we will solve them
When the New Year is the beginning of a new journey – we will complete it.
And when the New Year brings goals – we will achieve them
Together we can reach every goal, overcome every challenge, and see a thriving society in Israel.
לשנה טובה תכתבו ותחתמו
With warm regards,
Professor Rivka Lazovsky,
World WIZO Executive
