WIZO celebrated the dedication of a new, state-of-the-art daycare center in Tel Aviv, in the presence of its sponsors, Isaac and Myrna Kaye of the UK. The Kaye family was welcomed to the center by Prof. Rivka Lazovsky, Chairperson of the World WIZO Executive, and Tova Ben-Dov, President of World WIZO, Betty Crystal, Honorary President of WIZO UK, and other WIZO administrators.
Built in cooperation with the City of Tel Aviv, The Myrna and Isaac Kaye Daycare Center is located in Tel Aviv's northern, developing neighborhood, Kochav Hazafon, and serves as a focal-point and highlight of the area, which is filled with young, working couples and their children.
The brightly colored and impeccably clean daycare center (the construction of which was completed as recently as this past September) is set on a quaint side-street of the neighborhood. Its contemporary facilities, including an ecological garden, serve as a daytime home to 85 local children aged six months to three years old, under the guidance of Director Ms. Michal Geffen.
The guests were welcomed by the center's delightful children, dressed up in specially printed "I love Myrna & Isaac" t-shirts and waving Israeli and British flags.
After a ribbon cutting ceremony and the affixing of the center's mezuzah by Rabbi Israel Meir Lau, Chief Rabbi of Tel Aviv, attendees sat down in a kindergarten classroom where they were entertained by the children, who sang and danced. Afterwards, a sit-down meal was served during which Assaf Zamir Esq., First Deputy Mayor of Tel Aviv, Rabbi Lau and Tova Ben Dov, gave brief speeches thanking the Kaye family. "WIZO is known throughout the world for taking care of people…WIZO is always there, and that's why I always try to attend its events in Tel Aviv," said Rabbi Lau.
Additionally, the couple was honored by a screened blessing from Labor Party Chairman and Leader of the Knesset Opposition Isaac "Bougie" Herzog. In her own speech, Prof. Rivka Lazovsky quoted the Book of Proverbs (22:6) in regards to the new center and the generous donation of the Kaye Family, "Teach a child the path, and he will not stray from it, even when he is old." She went on to thank the couple: "Today, Myrna and Isaac Kaye are dedicating the last word in child daycare, which is equipped to give Israeli children the best in education and nutrition as well as a solid foundation for their futures. By helping these children, the Kaye family and we at WIZO are ensuring the future generations of the State of Israel."
