My name is Kelly Abraham. I grew up in Israel and moved to London when I was 6. Living here as a child influenced my upbringing immensely. Moving to London and being raised by two Israeli parents in an Israeli household only made me miss Israel more and more.
As a child, I would come back to Israel at least four times a year. My connection to Israel has always been very strong and something that is really important to me.
Ever since I can remember, I have been thinking about ways I can come back to Israel. That's when I decided to participate in Masa, a 5 month internship program in Israel. The program allowed me to move back as a young adult and experience working life here. It is through this program that I came across WIZO's wonderful internship program.
Working at WIZO has been nothing short of amazing. During my time at WIZO, I was taken on a number of site visits and interacted with the beautiful people WIZO helps. These experiences really opened my eyes. Working in the Fundraising Department was an exciting opportunity to write reports and proposals, for the different federations around the world. This gave me a special chance to grow and develop my skills. I learnt a lot from my time here. I also had the chance to utilize my language skills and work in Hebrew – something that working in London, I never had the ability to do.
All in all, this is an experience that I will always cherish. Seeing firsthand the hard work that takes place here at WIZO and all the difference that it makes is very heartwarming. Having the chance to be a part of an organization of this kind and helping the less fortunate in Israel was a truly wonderful experience. I am very proud to be a part of WIZO.
Thank you so much for taking me in and giving me an opportunity to help.
