WIZO Israel: Empowering Communities, Transforming Lives

WIZO Israel stands as a beacon of community-driven impact, dedicated to empowering women, children, and families across the country. With 38 branches from Kiryat Shmona to Eilat, we reach approximately 25,000 people annually through hundreds of programs and one-time events. Our 45 second-hand clothing stores further extend our community presence. We actively operate grassroots programs that create real, lasting change on the ground. From early childhood education to support networks for women and children who have escaped domestic violence through our Safety Net initiative, leadership programs for young girls, and support for reservist families and resilience programs for the elderly, our efforts touch thousands of lives annually, making WIZO Israel a model of proactive social engagement.
International Women’s Day 2025: A Month of Empowerment and Recognition
March is a pivotal month for WIZO Israel, marking International Women’s Day with an array of impactful events celebrating women’s achievements and advocating for gender equality. Through dozens of events across the country, we celebrated women’s achievements while addressing the challenges that still lie ahead. Here are some of the key events:

Jerusalem’s Cinematheque Event
This flagship event honored remarkable women in Jerusalem with certificates of recognition. This year, the honor was awarded to Rabbanit Yemima Mizrachi, a renowned spiritual leader and educator, and Lili Ben Ami, a prominent activist in the fight against domestic violence. Their achievements and contributions inspire the next generation of women leaders.
Keren Kayemeth LeIsrael (KKL-JNF) Recognition Ceremony
In a prestigious event hosted by KKL, five trailblazing women were recognized for their contributions to Israeli society, including WIZO Israel’s Chairperson, Ora Korazim.
She was honored for her extraordinary leadership during the war, spearheading numerous initiatives to support reservist families, wounded soldiers, and impacted communities. Her tireless efforts have provided critical support in times of crisis.
Savion-Bikat Ono Women’s Day Event
This event featured Lieutenant Colonel Or Ben Yehuda, an officer who fought alongside her soldiers in the battles of October 7th, eliminating dozens of terrorists while breaking multiple glass ceilings in her military career. As a commander in combat units, she has led with courage and resilience, becoming a symbol of female empowerment in Israel’s defense forces.
A Memorial Event Honoring female border observers
In collaboration with multiple women’s organizations, WIZO Israel hosted a moving tribute to the female border observers who raised alarms before October 7th but were tragically ignored. This event honored their bravery and emphasized the importance of women’s voices in security and decision-making processes.

Beyond these highlighted events, WIZO Israel held numerous other gatherings across the country, ranging from leadership panels and empowerment workshops to community celebrations that offered much-needed respite during these challenging times. While some events focused on advocacy and recognition, others provided moments of joy and solidarity, acknowledging the collective need for support and hope after over a year of ongoing conflict.
Through these initiatives, WIZO Israel continues to champion gender equality while strengthening the fabric of our communities. We invite our global WIZO sisters to stand with us, expand our reach, and deepen our impact. Together, we can empower more women, support more families, and build a stronger, more resilient society for generations to come.
