Women Warriors of France
The women of WIZO France have courageously taken to the streets to fight for women’s rights and the return of the hostages.
Since October 7th, there has been a significant surge in antisemitic incidents around the world, particularly in France, where the Jewish community has been suffering from an atmosphere of increased hostility and fear. But that hasn’t stopped the valiant women of WIZO France from taking to the streets to demand the release of the hostages and to fight for Jewish women’s rights – waving the Israeli flag proudly.
Joined by the CRIF (Representative Council of French Jewish Institutions), WIZO France created the Mothers of Hope, who meet every Friday at the Trocadéro in Paris. Since November, hundreds of people have joined them, including important public figures from the political, cultural, religious, artistic, and media industries, calling the country’s attention to the cause of Israel’s hostages. These emotional gatherings have included singing, dance performances, speeches, reading of texts, releasing of balloons, and singing Hatikva.
Two weeks ago, the group marked their 40th gathering.
WIZO France has also been instrumental in co-leading and participating in numerous large-scale demonstrations in various cities affirming support for Israel and denouncing the antisemitism that puts French Jews in danger.
Their strong social media presence on Facebook and Instagram has amplified their Zionist voice far beyond the borders of their country at a time when the voices of Jewish hatred are overwhelmingly harsh.
The women of WIZO France are determined, passionate, strong and creative advocates for Israel, for Judaism and for WIZO.
