Orly has had a very difficult childhood. Her mother was troubled and neglected her. The refrigerator was always empty, and at night, she didn’t always have a bed to sleep in.
After October 7 things got worse. Her older brother fell in Gaza and her mother has spiralled into depression. Orly quickly became a mother to her own mother, making sure she followed her into the bomb shelters when required.
Their situation only got more difficult after they were relocated further North.
Always worrying about others, Orly never acknowledged her own pain and mental health. She knows deep down that she is struggling too.
Orly needs to talk to a therapist, however so far this hasn’t been possible.
That’s why we need to talk about this new emergency in Israel’s South.
How do we get teenagers like Orly the therapy they desperately need?
