October 7th was the day after Liel’s birthday. In the early hours of that day, Liel and his mother were informed about a terrorist infiltration and spent 12 hours in the bomb shelter. Liel calls it “the worst birthday ever”.
Liel remembers everything so vividly. They were in the shelter, under intense pressure and fear, with thoughts of “What if we die?” “What if a terrorist breaks into our home?”.
Even though almost two years has passed, Liel still dreams of that horrific day. He can still see the images when he closes his eyes. The trauma is there, front and center of his mind.
Liel needs to talk to a therapist, however so far this hasn’t been possible.
That’s why we need to talk about this new emergency in Israel’s South.
How do we get children like Liel the therapy they desperately need?
