Yom Ha’atzmaut Clubbing in Vienna
This year, WIZO chaverot organized an amazing party celebrating the 70th birthday of Medinat Israel. This event was conducted in cooperation with the Austrian Union of Jewish Students and the Jewish community. The highlight of the evening was the moment when the Chief Rabbi of Austria, Paul Chaim Eisenberg, spontaneously surprised everyone with a lovely singing performance. The atmosphere was warm, fun and enjoyable. With this event, we linked our fundraising efforts with our clear commitment to the State of Israel and our support for women and children in Israel who are in need. We are proud that with the WIZO Yom Ha'atzmaut Clubbing, we established a new milestone of cultural activities in the Jewish community in Vienna. As we all know, it is all about communication, celebration and bringing people together to convey our message. As WIZO chaverot we care, we share, we dare!

On the occasion of Israel's 70 years, WIZO Austria brought the Israeli star singer Hagit Yaso to Vienna. Hagit was born in Israel and lives in Sderot, but her parents came to Israel as part of the immense rescue operation in 1991 known as Operation Solomon, where 15,000 Ethiopian Jews were flown from Addis Ababa to Israel. During Hagit's visit in Austria, we found out that she was at the WIZO DCC in Sderot when she was a toddler. She has a great voice and was the attraction of the entire event that was a held in conjunction between WIZO and many other local Jewish organizations. At the end of the day, the efforts of the WIZO team helped save the day. As during many of our past events, we cooperated with Jewish students. This is the best way to engage the young generation. Straight after the event, Hagit went to the airport to fly back to Israel to sing at the opening of the American Embassy in Jerusalem. This is "our Hagit" and a "WIZO Alumni".
