WIZO USA: New York Fashion Show

Held at the Plaza Hotel in New York City, the WIZO Children for our Children Fashion Show drew 390 supporters

Chaired by Monica Shatz, an Aviv Mission 2018 participant, WIZO New York threw its most successful Fashion Show ever. Held at the Plaza Hotel in New York City the WIZO Children for our Children Fashion Show drew 390 supporters. The child 'fashionistas' walked the runway modelling beautiful clothing. The fashion show had many Corporate Sponsorships and it was a great success. The stunning photos of the fashion show can be seen here: Picture gallery

The guest of honour was Raz Avitay, a WIZO Nir HaEmek graduate. A first generation immigrant from Ethiopia, raised in a single parent household, she came to WIZO Nir HaEmek to escape circumstances that had led her into depression and self-harm. During her time at Nir HaEmek she flourished, becoming a stellar student and volunteering with incoming students. Raz was also part of the Police Cadet Program with the Police Academy. The attendees where deeply moved and inspired by her speech and her life story.

Amongst the attendees were Rachel Shnay, the Co-Aviv Representative to the World WIZO Executive and two of Monica's 'WIZO sisters' Rachel Aschendorf and Alexandra Silver, whom she met during the WIZO Aviv Young Leadership Mission 2018. During her speech, Monica spoke of how inspired she was by the past and present WIZO leadership and how she understood the impact of WIZO during the Aviv Mission, experiencing how "WIZO saves lives and sets people on the path for a better life". She also noted how inspiring it had been taking part in the Aviv Mission, surrounded by women who were all "dedicated to creating better lives for the women and children in [their] beloved Israel".

WIZO USA: SHOW DE MODA DE NUEVA YORK

Presidido por Mónica Shatz, quien  participó en la Misión WIZO Aviv  2018, WIZO Nueva York presentó su Fashion Show más exitoso. Celebrado en el Hotel Plaza en la ciudad de Nueva York, el desfile de modas de Niños WIZO por nuestros Niños, contó con la participación de 400 personas. Los 'fashionistas' infantiles desfilaron por la pasarela luciendo llamativos modelos . El desfile de moda tuvo muchos patrocinios de conocidas marcas y fue un gran éxito.

La invitada de honor fue Raz Avitay, graduada de la Aldea Juvenill WIZO Nir Haemek. La joven inmigrante de Etiopía, que creció en un hogar uniparental, llegó a WIZO Nir Haemek para escapar de las circunstancias que la habían llevado a la depresión y la autolesión. Durante su tiempo en Nir HaEmek, ella floreció, se convirtió en una alumna ejemplar y ayudó como voluntaria a la integración  de nuevos alumnos. Raz cursó el Programa de Cadetes de Policía. Todos los presentes se conmovieron e inspiraron profundamente por sus palabras y su historia.

Entre los asistentes se encontraban Rachel Shnay, la co Representante Aviv ante la Ejecutiva de WIZO Mundial y dos de las 'hermanas WIZO' de Monica Shatz, Rachel Aschendorf y Alexandra Silver, a quienes conoció durante la Misión WIZO Aviv 2018. Durante su discurso, Mónica habló la inspiración que le da el  pasado y el actual liderazgo de WIZO y que entendió el impacto de WIZO en la sociedad israelí durante la Misión WIZO Aviv, cuando pudo ver por sus ojos propios cómo "WIZO salva vidas y pone a las personas en el camino hacia una vida mejor". También destacó lo inspirador que había sido para ella participar en la Misión WIZO Aviv, rodeada de mujeres que estaban "dedicadas a crear mejores vidas para mujeres y niños de Israel ".
