Continuing with a wonderful year, full of successful events and great achievements, WIZO Florida keeps working tirelessly for the welfare of the women and children of Israel.
Ilanit-Tikva is a creative group of women with young adult children and a flexible lifestyle. With a deep love for WIZO and Israel, its members work very hard to put together thriving fundraising projects and events. Their latest initiative started as a simple and cool idea that ended up marking a milestone in the WIZO Florida Chapter: a Domino Night Tournament for men!
The Domino Night was held on March 14th, 2018 at the Trump International Hotel. It hosted over 80 men (due to limited space) who love playing domino and wanted to do it for a good cause. The Chapter did an amazing job finding table sponsors who ended up covering all the expenses of the event and they managed to get the venue and the food for free. They also received raffle prizes from generous donors, selling an amazing number of raffle tickets at the entrance. The impressive amount of funds raised at the event went to sponsor Nachaltron, a therapeutic theatre program in WIZO Nachlat Yehuda School & Youth Village. The attendees enjoyed the event so much, now they want to turn it into an annual event! Connecting men to WIZO has forged a deeper commitment by the women to the organization.
Yom Ha'Atzmaut Spin Class
The Young Professionals from Atid have come up with a fun way to combine the need to network with the desire to help Israel. In celebration of Israel's 70th, the Chapter hosted a Yom Ha'Atzmaut spin class at a local spinning studio on April 19th. The venue sponsored the sold-out Young Professional's event and a partner provided healthy juices and snacks for the attendees. Riders decked out in blue and white, spun to an all Israeli playlist during the Israel-themed ride. This celebration of Israel's Independence was a huge success, having a generous donor matching all of the money Atid raised at the event.
Mother’s Day Sponsor-A-Child Luncheon and Fashion Show
Closing the year with a flourish, the Mother’s Day Sponsor-A-Child Luncheon was definitely one to remember. Honoring two Mothers of the Year and featuring World Famous Fashion Designer Silvia Tcherassi, both the Luncheon and the Fashion Show were flawless. With over 200 women celebrating Mother’s Day with their mothers, daughters and friends, the event raised much needed funds that will go straight to the Sponsor-A-Child Campaign! To augment the donations made at the event, people were able to put ads in the printed program and dedicate their table to their loved ones, showcasing their framed pictures at their tables and on a moving video display.
